Dr. Rob Melnick was appointed Executive Dean of the Global Institute of Sustainability (GIOS) by ASU President Michael Crow in 2008. Prior to this position, he served Arizona State University (ASU) as Director of the Morrison Institute for Public Policy from 1987-2008 and also as Associate Vice President for Economic Affairs from 2002-2008.
Dr. Melnick holds academic appointments as research scientist in GIOS and as Presidential Professor of Practice in the School of Sustainability. Immediately prior to his work for ASU, Dr. Melnick was a senior fellow and vice president of the Hudson Institute where he was in charge of policy studies on employment and education. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Melnick conducts research on urban growth and economic development. He is the co-author of three books and numerous public policy research studies.
Rob has a bachelor's degree in government from Dartmouth College and earned his master's degree and Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
