The 2012 Higher Education Creativity Conference is accepting papers for the June 11-14, 2012 conference, which will be held at Kehuayuan Hotel in Chengdu, China. The global knowledge economy of the future will be driven by creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition, the challenges facing nations around the world will require new approaches. Colleges and universities, therefore, must foster creative approaches for their students and their institutions, yet there has been much less attention to creativity in colleges and universities compared with other sectors of society.

This subject is of special importance to Chinese universities. In April 2011, President Hu Jintao said, “Innovation becomes the main driving force of economic social development, and intellectual innovation becomes the core factor of national competitiveness.” Therefore this conference is much more than an academic discussion—it has the potential to influence the current policy debate in China.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Gerard Puccio, Department Chair and Professor at the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State University (USA), a unique academic department that offers the world’s only master’s degree in creativity. Invited speakers include academics and policy leaders from Europe, Australia, North America, and Asia. The goal is an international perspective on creativity and innovation in higher education.

We invite submissions around three broad themes:

  1. Student Creativity
  2. Curriculum Creativity
  3. Institutional Creativity

Presentations may include case studies of good practice as well as more theoretical or comparative explorations of the theme. Academic presentations will be presented in English, select sessions will include chinese interpretation and translation services.
